When I had that revelation, I decided…

How it affected me mentally

My “why”

I was brought to attention about the animal-slaughter industry when I wanted to buy cruelty-free leather for a friend who wouldn’t accept “genuine” leather.

A whole new industry was flashed before me. In search for answers, I dug out a buttload of information about the animal agriculture industry, and why we are so biased towards a singular specie. Why did we love dogs, eat pigs and wear cows. Unlike the regular meat industry, it was the leather industry that made me question about my choices, and how they impacted others.

I decided to become an overnight vegan. Obviously, it wasn’t…

and how to eliminate it

A survey found that 50% of teenagers who use social media were embarrassed to post pictures of them with acne. About 1 in 3 teens said social media increases their anxiety about their acne, and would you believe that 34% of teens with acne avoided video chatting.

Genetics and hormones play a role in acne; our environment and lifestyle habits have a considerable say in handling our acne.

Junk In, Junk Out

Importance of a balanced nutrient intake

Photo by Nadine Primeau on Unsplash

Plant-based is actually a way of eating that focuses on getting the majority of our energy from nutrient-dense plant sources of food.

Including more plant-based foods in your diet will naturally result in an increase of nutrient-dense foods, also encouraging food variety, which can improve general health and wellbeing, gut health, weight management and decrease your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some cancers.

Vegan and plant-based diets are becoming increasingly popular among health and environmental-conscious individuals and athletes alike. Those who are considering switching to a more plant-based diet are often concerned around achieving sufficient nutrient intake.

What to avoid and what to consume

Let’s think about this for a second. What do you do when you’re stressed? Do you turn to food? What food do you turn to?

Isn’t chocolate just more delicious when you are sad or stressed? Maybe it’s cookies, especially with milk? Or perhaps just some pasta? And isn’t ice cream just our go-to while crying over exes?

Let’s also not forget our lingering friend — alcohol. Or do we pop some antidepressants?

What all these have in common are carbohydrates and not the right kind. Antidepressants, on the other hand, tend to make you crave carbohydrates.

What these carbs…

Nuts are a great snack. Just little quantities of nuts can increase your macro and micros intake per day. They are healthy and extremely versatile too.

Nuts began to get a bad reputation because of the amount of fat they contain, and since the “low-fat” diet was trending. …

Being plant-based is more than a diet. It’s about having a deep understanding of what we consume. If one is keen on making a change that provides benefits to one’s health, curb the torture of sentient beings and truly gives a damn about climate change.

Allowing yourself to unlearn what you’ve been taught all your life about animal products and refusing our ego to be wrapped in an ideology so much that we can accept undeniable logical facts that are present to us.

A plant-based way of living has been successfully proved to be linked to better gut health, smoother…

You really need to care

Why we need to sleep

There is no doubt that sleep is a vital function when it comes to maintaining optimal health and wellbeing of a person. Sleep is needed. We don’t usually embrace the necessity of a good nights sleep because it’s a normal, mundane thing, like brushing our teeth.

When you’ve had a long day at the office or worked out extra hard at the gym, sleep is a way our body tells us it needs to rest and recharge. Sleep is our superpower. …

Take a step in the right direction this holiday season

Photo by Pro Church Media on Unsplash

It’s the time of the year, where family and friends get together to celebrate each other, show love and give thanks for the past year, it seems like such a contradiction when this is done by killing an innocent being and stuffing it with mashed potatoes. All while historians were still in a dilemma about whether the turkey was the meat served at the First Thanksgiving.

Each year 245 million turkeys are killed in the US alone, with 46 million just killed on Thanksgiving only. …
